Building Sustainable Organic Sectors Building Sustainable Organic Sectors
The objective of this study as formulated by IFOAM is to give guidance for the development of dynamic organic sectors, with a focus on developing countries. The report includes ten country case studies of which five are from developing economies, two from emerging economies or economies in transition, and three are from more developed economies. Based on the case studies and other experience, recommendations are made.

The 10th edition of ‘The World of Organic Agriculture’ documents recent developments in global organic agriculture. It includes contributions from representatives of the organic sector from throughout the world and provides comprehensive organic farming statistics that cover surface area under organic management, numbers of farms and specific information about land use in organic systems. The book also contains information on the global market for organic food, activities of UN organizations, the latest developments in organic certification, standards and regulations and insights into current status and emerging trends for organic agriculture by geographical region. The latest data are presented annually at BioFach in Nürnberg, Germany 2010: 17 - 20 February.

About this Directory and how it is structured The Organic Agriculture Worldwide IFOAM Directory contains the contact details and other relevant information, such as key fields of activities, of all IFOAM Member Organizations and Associates. The Directory reflects the situation as of December 2008 with the most up to date information available to us, including many new email and website addresses. This Directory also includes an Index, listing all IFOAM Member Organizations and Associates alphabetically and with page numbers for easy reference. All IFOAM Member Organizations and Associates are listed in alphabetical order by their respective countries. And for the first time ever individual supporters are listed, at the end of this directory, for you to know who is connected as an individual to the global organic movement. Within each country, the IFOAM Members (companies, institutions and associations that are predominantly active in Organic Agriculture and thus have the right to vote in the General Assembly) and IFOAM Associates (companies, institutions and associations that are not yet predominately involved in the organic movement) are listed in alphabetical order by their full name. Associates are marked with a * at the end of their name. The contact details of the IFOAM Members and Associates are complemented with their logo, symbol or trademark wherever known and available. The activity in bold is the main activity of the organization.
